Hello, welcome to my page about the Macintosh. I am a long-term user and supporter of the Macintosh. I have been using Macs since I found some in a computer lab when I was in seventh grade. I basically leared by trial and error (much to the chagrin of the system administrator). I have loved Macs ever since.
I bought my first very own Mac in 1993, it was a Mac Powerbook 180. I took that computer all over the place; it went with me on a six week trip into the outdoors where it was subjected to every harsh environment you could imagine. The only wear it showed after the whole trip was some damage to the floppy drive due to sand. Other than that it performed excellently. It had 14! Megs of RAM and a 160 Meg hard drive. For it's time it was an impressive computer. I was happy because it stayed the most powerful Macintosh laptop for a full year after I bought it. I still wish I had gotten the Duo instead, but I can't sweat over that now. I have a Mac Powerbook 520 that I still use, although my primary computer is a new Macintosh G4. This thing hauls!
I'm a little low on cash right now, but soon I'm going to upgrade the video card in my Mac to the new Voodoo5 that is coming out soon. I'm really excited to see high quality graphics make it to the Mac platform. One of my only complaints is that the G4 has really crappy 3D graphics acceleration due to the ATI video card that Apple chooses OEM. I wish they would use a better card.
I also hope the people at nVidia get their act together and put together a Macintosh reference card so some Mac developers can start working on a GeForce card for the Mac. Perhaps Diamond Multimedia could be persuaded to release a Macintosh version of their cards too? We will see, all that is for certain is that the Mac platfor is enjoying a surge in popularity and the market is ripe for a company that can get their products to market.
I could go on and on about why the Mac is a superior platform to the PC, or any other platform, but the debate is old and stale. If you would like to hear my views on the topic, email me and I will be happy to discuss them with you.
